Our Early Childhood Education Program
Did you know?
Tooth decay is the most frequent cause of poor oral health in children, and those who experience tooth decay as a child are more likely to develop decay in their adult teeth. As many children attend early childhood care prior to commencing school, this is the ideal setting to promote and reinforce healthy habits and behaviours to provide children with a great start in life.
Why are baby teeth important?
Despite being largely preventable, tooth decay is the most common chronic disease in Australia, and the most frequent cause of poor oral health in children. Baby teeth play a vital role in your child's health and development, erupting around 6 months of age and remaining in the mouth until around 12 years of age.
Important roles of baby teeth & why it's important to look after them include; Maintaining space for permanent teeth, assisting with normal jaw development, development of good speech, healthy self esteem, help develop life-long oral hygiene habits
What can we do?
We are passionate about promoting oral health in our community and would like to offer your kindergarten a free oral health education session.
We believe that introducing good dental hygiene habits early on is crucial for lifelong oral health. Our program is designed to be fun and engaging, tailored specifically for young children
Your Childs First Visit
Your child's first visit to the dentist will shape the way they view dental treatment for the rest of their life. We strive to make their first dental experiences relaxed, enjoyable, and fun, to ensure a lifelong positive approach to dental hygiene and health.
We recommend starting routine check ups from 2 years old, so we can build rapport and encourage your child to maintain good dental health habits.
During a dental visit, the dentist or oral health therapist may; Count your child's teeth with them, check for cavities, clean the teeth, apply fluoride to the teeth, take xrays if necessary.
What we offer?
- Interactive presentations: Age appropriate, interactive lessons on brushing, flossing and the importance of healthy eating for strong teeth.
- Free goodie bags which include a toothbrush, stickers, a challenge for home, colouring book and more!
Our goal is to make oral health education enjoyable and memorable for children, helping them build healthy habits from an early age.
